The District maintains 235 miles of physical canal system in order to provide drainage protection through the 50 square miles of the District. We maintain an aquatic weed control program using DEP and EPA approved herbicides and mechanical harvesting. This service is provided to maintain adequate flow sections in the canal channels and not for aesthetic purpose. The District records with cooperation from its large grower's rainfall events and surface water elevations throughout District. The District maintains a water quality monitoring program to establish background data and protect interest. The District does not maintain roads. The Districts sole function is to carry out drainage and water control operations within its boundaries and nothing else.
